Moortown Local Scoop- Wednesday 7th February 2024

Wednesday 7th February 2024

Good morning, Moortown readers!

Wrap up snug today - we're starting with a frosty 1°C early morning. But, as the sun climbs, we'll bask in a bit of golden sunshine pushing us to a cool but lovely 6°C by lunch. The winds are keeping it light, for a change.

Now, don't pack away those gloves just yet; by the time you're thinking of your evening cuppa, the temps will dip back down to 3°C. And as we tuck into bed, we're back to where we started at a nippy 1°C. Stay toasty, everyone!

And hey, don't forget about the yellow snow warning on Thursday. Keep those winter boots handy, and maybe plan for some cosy indoor activities, just in case we get a bit of a winter wonderland moment.

Unexpected Outage: Power Cut Hits Chapel Allerton and Surrounding Areas

Yesterday, residents and businesses in Chapel Allerton, along with parts of Scott Hall and Gledhow, experienced a significant power outage.

The lights went out early in the day and, for many, the power wasn't back until 5pm. Northern Powergrid pinpointed the issue to an unexpected fault in the cables or equipment.

At one point, roughly 1,790 properties were left in the dark.

It was a reminder of how much we rely on our electrical lifeline and the importance of being prepared for such unexpected events.
