Leeds City Council Implements Parking Charges at Five Major Parks

Leeds City Council has approved the introduction of parking charges at five popular parks: Golden Acre Park, Middleton Park, Otley Chevin Forest Park, Roundhay Park, and Temple Newsam. The charges, aimed at raising funds for park maintenance, will be £1 for up to two hours, £2.50 for half a day, and £4 for a full day. There are also options for monthly and annual season tickets at £10 and £80, respectively. Blue badge holders will be exempt from these fees.

The decision, despite opposition and concerns about increased street parking and the impact on park accessibility, is seen as necessary due to budget cuts and the need for substantial investment in park facilities. The council aims to encourage more sustainable travel methods and relieve parking pressures at peak times. Following statutory procedures, the new charges are expected to be rolled out later this year.

Leeds United Strives to Avoid Points Deduction by Selling Key Players

Leeds United is taking significant steps to avoid a potential points deduction next season by adhering to financial guidelines, as finance specialist Stefan Borson emphasised.

The club has sold key players, including Crysencio Summerville and Archie Gray, to prevent breaching spending limits. Borson highlights that a points deduction would be disastrous for their promotion aspirations.

The club's new owners aim to balance spending on the team while avoiding financial penalties to ensure a swift return to the Premier League.
