Officer Dismissed for Assault on Colleagues and Fleeing Arrest
West Yorkshire Police officer Daniel McKie was dismissed after a misconduct hearing for assaulting colleagues and fleeing during his arrest at home in December 2022.
Despite his apology and personal stress claims, the panel ruled immediate termination was necessary. McKie had previously been convicted of assault and restricting a constable's duty, receiving a community order in April 2023.
Leeds Family Loses Everything in Suspected Arson Attack
A Leeds mother and her six children have been left with nothing after their Meanwood council house was destroyed in a suspected petrol bomb arson attack.
The family managed to escape without physical harm, but the house suffered extensive damage, leaving them to start over. Community support has been significant, with fundraising efforts underway to help the family recover.
West Yorkshire Police are investigating the incident as arson and are appealing for information.
