Moortown Residents Seek Answers After Post Office Collection Box Removal
Residents in Moortown have expressed confusion and dissatisfaction after the removal of a Post Office collection box that was located outside the former Co-Op store on Harrogate Road.
Although a new Post Office has opened nearby, the promised replacement collection box has not been installed. This has caused inconvenience as the new location offers limited hours and was unexpectedly closed on December 27.
The Royal Mail's response to complaints has been unsatisfactory, with a follow-up survey on their response failing to submit properly, adding to the frustration of the residents.
Road Safety Takes the Spotlight in West Yorkshire Police Initiative
West Yorkshire Police have stepped up their efforts to ensure safer roads by prioritising the crackdown on antisocial vehicle use. The focus is sharp on speeding, drink and drug driving, careless driving, and illegal use of off-road vehicles on public roads.
To tackle these issues, they will be conducting high visibility patrols and deploying speed indication devices to monitor and manage vehicular conduct more effectively. This initiative is a stride towards enhancing the safety and security of our streets.
Year 6 Blends Literature and Music at Moortown Primary School
In a recent workshop, Year 6 students at Moortown Primary School were treated to a delightful fusion of reading and music, thanks to Liz from the British Library.
They began by listening to "The Phoenix of Persia" by Sally Pomme Clayton, then engaged in a hands-on activity matching story characters to sounds, enhancing their understanding of the concept of timbre.
The session ended in students creating their own musical interpretations of the story, showcasing their compositions in a remarkable performance that brought the narrative to life through sound.
