Leeds Traffic Disruption: Man Eating on Roundhay Road Safely Taken to Medical Care

On December 31, police responded to a situation on Roundhay Road near Gipton Wood after a man was seen eating on the road, causing traffic disruption.

Around five police cars arrived shortly before 1:30 PM, with approximately ten officers attending the scene. Witnesses described it as appearing to be a serious incident.

The West Yorkshire Police later clarified that the incident involved a man with mental health issues. The individual was safely escorted to a medical suite following the occurrence.

Speed Enforcement in Focus

Mobile speed cameras are being deployed across West Yorkshire, including in the Alwoodley area, to enhance road safety.

In Alwoodley, specifically, the A61 Harrogate Road will have a speed camera operational in a 40 mph zone, situated between Fir Tree Lane and Alwoodley Lane.

This enforcement is part of a wider effort by the West Yorkshire Police and the West Yorkshire Safety Camera Partnership to reduce accidents in known casualty zones and encourage safe driving behaviour across the region.
