Good morning, Moortown readers!

The day kicks off with a cheeky peek of sunshine at 6 AM, but don't be fooled – those grey clouds are rolling in fast. By 9 AM, grab your brollies because we've got rain on the menu, and it's sticking around pretty much the entire day.

On the bright side, the temps are staying pretty consistent, with a cool 5°C in the early hours warming up to a mild 9°C at noon, and then it's back to 7°C as we tuck into the night.

So, gear up in your best waterproofs and keep your spirits high even if the skies are low.

Crime Prevention Event, Monday 8th April 9AM-1PM

West Yorkshire Police have shared an upcoming event which is to help many people become more aware of crime prevention.

The event will be hosted at the Cherry Tree House Car Park (LS17 6AX). The event will also include the option of people bringing their bikes along to have them marked so that they may not be stolen.

Temple Newsam Fire: Leeds Council Issues Update

Around 30 firefighters were called out from eight stations to tackle a fire at Temple Newsam's playbarn on May 11, 2023. The incident, which damaged the nearly completed roof of the under-construction play barn, was an accident involving the ignition of roof insulation.

Leeds City Council has confirmed that repairs are in progress and a reopening is expected later this year. They praised the efforts of the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service for their swift action in controlling the fire. No animals were affected, and the estate remains open to the public.

Kids Healthy Holidays Camp, Moortown Methodist Church

The Moortown Methodist Church is hosting a Kids Healthy Holidays Camp from 8th to 12th April, 9 am - 1 pm. Aimed at children aged 7 and up, the camp features fun activities and a nutritious lunch.

Daniel Farke Addresses Issue Regarding Leeds United Legend

Leeds United's Stuart Dallas, who has been out with a femoral injury since April 2022, has expressed hope to return before this season ends. Manager Daniel Farke discussed the situation in his press conference, emphasising that there's no pressure on Dallas's recovery timeline.

Farke highlighted Dallas's status as a Leeds legend and stated he would be given all the support needed for his recovery.
