Moortown Emergency Services Assist in Leeds Dock Rescue

Emergency responders from Moortown, along with other crews, rushed to Leeds Dock after a person fell into the water. The incident, which occurred around 5:29 PM, saw collaboration between West Yorkshire Police, Yorkshire Ambulance Service, and West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Fire engines from Moortown were among those on the scene, contributing to the successful rescue operation. The individual was safely removed from the water and the situation was handed over to the police.

Improved Safety Measures for King Lane and Harrogate Road Junction

A new road layout at the King Lane and Harrogate Road junction aims to enhance safety, particularly for pedestrians accessing four nearby primary schools. Prompted by local Ward Members in 2018/19, the scheme addresses safety concerns from wide junctions, heavy traffic, and speeding vehicles.

Key improvements include a signalised pedestrian crossing over Harrogate Road, a simplified junction at Gledhow Valley Road, and narrower junctions at Stainbeck Road and King Lane. All current vehicle movements will remain permitted, except for the closure of one Gledhow Valley Road entrance.

Happy Half Term!

We will be back next week with more school updates!

Moortown Rugby Club Coach Steps Down

After two full seasons, coach Ben Fairclough is stepping down. Ben has made significant contributions both as a coach and a player, leaving behind many memories, including nearly winning North 1 East 22/23, achieving the longest touchline ban, and leading the team to score the most points in a single season.

Highlights of his tenure also include winning Yorkshire 1 in 18/19 as a player and a remarkable +200 points difference against Bradford & Bingley. Ben's hard work and success are greatly appreciated, and he will be missed.

St Helens Triumph Over Leeds Rhinos

This win puts St Helens at the top of the league, pushing Wigan Warriors to second place. Leeds suffered their sixth league defeat of the season.
