We've got a yellow warning for snow and ice kicking off at midnight on Tuesday, 16th January, which might bring further snow showers and potentially some travel hiccups. Head over to Roundhay Children's Centre this Thursday for a fabulous Messy Play session! From 1:00 to 2:30 pm, little ones from 0-5 years can dive into activities that spark joy and learning for just £1.50 per family.
Get involved with Alwoodley Community Orchards for a Fruit Tree Pruning Training session on Thursday from 10 am to 2 pm. Meet at Alwoodley Village Green Car Park for an instructional session led by Park Ranger David Preston.
You'll learn the best techniques to prune fruit trees, helping to maintain and nurture our local orchards. It's a hands-on way to contribute to our community's green spaces and learn about sustainable practices.
Moortown Traffic Alert: Woman Hospitalised After Collision on Harrogate Road
In a recent incident on Harrogate Road in Moortown, a woman was taken to the hospital after her car collided with a stationary vehicle.
Emergency services, including fire crews from Moortown and Cookridge and West Yorkshire Police, responded to the situation. The event led to traffic measures to secure the scene. The condition of the woman has not been disclosed.

In the Reception class at Moortown Primary, children have been diving back into learning after the New Year break, engaging in exciting educational activities. This half-term’s topic is called Fire and Ice.
In Year 1 and 2, students have been engaged in a vibrant exploration of history, delving into the evolution of shopping and trade over time. They've been comparing the past to the present and even inviting family members with memories of shopping in the 1950s to share their experiences. The children have also been developing their physical skills in PE, showcasing impressive progress in balancing and movement.
Year 3 has embarked on a journey through time with their reading sessions centered around a non-fiction book that illustrates the changes in life throughout history, starting with the Romans. Their curriculum also features an art focus, where students have been expressing their creativity through sculpture, taking inspiration from renowned artists to create their own art pieces.
