Moortown Local Scoop- Monday 15th April 2024
We made a mistake. Here's what happened.

Hold Your Noses - Our "Fragrant" Mistake Needs Clearing Up!
In last Friday's edition, we reported on a rather perfumed pilfering – "Ringwood Shop Hit by Air Freshener Heist." It turns out we caught a whiff of the wrong story; the incident did not occur in our Moortown in Leeds but rather in a different Moortown.
We understand that accurate information is the essence of trust and we’re truly sorry for any confusion our error may have caused.
Mistakes like this are humbling, and they serve as a reminder for us to double-check our sources with even more vigour. We are taking steps to ensure that our future reports are not just informative but also correctly attributed to our own neighbourhood.
Just a heads-up for tomorrow – looks like we're in for a bit of a wet and wild start. The early birds will catch a few showers, with temps hanging around 6-7°C. Don't forget your brollies for the morning commute!
The clouds might stick around for a good part of the day, but they'll be kind enough to hold off on the rain from midday onward. So if you've got plans to step out for lunch or a midday stroll, you should be in the clear.
Things are looking up in the afternoon with some sunny spells and highs of about 9°C. Going into the night expect some light rain, so just to be safe keep a brolly with you all day.

Anger Towards Parking Charges Plan In Roundhay Park
There's strong opposition to the proposed parking charges at Roundhay Park in Leeds. Residents, volunteers, and business owners have expressed their concerns, stating that the charges could reduce visitor numbers and negatively impact local businesses.
Leeds City Council is considering these charges as part of an effort to address a £64 million budget shortfall, but no final decision has been made yet. A public consultation will be held if the plan progresses.
Parents To Find Out Primary School Decision This Week!
In Leeds, parents will learn about primary school placements for their children from September 2024 to April 16th. If a preferred school isn't offered, parents can appeal the decision through Leeds City Council's online platform.
The process involves submitting a written appeal followed by an appeal hearing. For 2023, most families received an offer from their first or top three choices. Admission criteria vary by school but often consider factors like proximity, sibling attendance, and special needs or abilities.
