Chapel Allerton Hospital's £27m Upgrade Plans on Hold as Funding Withdrawn

Leeds' Chapel Allerton Hospital's ambitious plans for a £27 million upgrade have hit a roadblock after the government withdrew its funding. The proposed upgrade included a new centre for planned surgery, which aimed to ease the long waiting times for patients in the city. The facility was intended to house a new theatre, office extension, and an Elective Care Hub, specifically catering to spinal surgeries.

Despite having their planning permission in place and initially receiving support from NHS England and the Department of Health and Social Care, the hospital was informed of the funding retraction last November.

This update has put a significant dent in the city's healthcare upgrade plans. However, the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust hasn't given up yet and is exploring alternative funding to keep the project in their long-term vision for improving NHS services in Leeds. The upgrade was also expected to include virtual clinics, a garden, and a modern faith room, enhancing the hospital's facilities for both patients and staff.

Attention Moortown Primary School Parents!

The Living and Learning statement for the upcoming week is a crucial one: "I know how to seek help..."

It's an important reminder that everyone, no matter their age, may need to ask for help sometimes. The school encourage you to take some time with your child to talk about the importance of seeking assistance. Discuss various scenarios where they might need to reach out, whether it's dealing with friendship woes, online issues, or uncertain situations while out and about.

They want to ensure that children know who they can turn to for help and how they can go about asking for it. This could be a teacher, a family member, a trusted adult, or even a helpline. Understanding how to seek help empowers them to handle challenges confidently and safely.

Here's to a week of learning, growth, and supporting each other!
